The PGFC Academy Under-20s suffered penalty shootout heartache in Saturday's NPL WA Top Four Cup Final as they were pipped by Bayswater City having fought out a 2-2 draw over 90 minutes. In front of a vociferous crowd at Dorrien Gardens, Chris Coyne's side found themselves trailing 2-0 at the break after the lively Daniel Katz helped himself to a double. But they roared back at the start of the second half, halving the arrears within three minutes as Joel Anasmo teed up Jaylan Pearman who applied the close-range finish.
Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that highly-rated American striker Cyera Hintzen has signed on for the W-League 2021/22 Season. The 23-year-old, who is a former USA Under-19 international, spent last season at reigning Icelandic league champions Valur for whom she impressed in both the domestic competition and Champions League. Hintzen previously enjoyed a stellar college career at The University of Texas, being named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 having scored ten goals and claimed nine assists.
Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that versatile Danish international Mie Leth Jans has signed with the club for the W-League 2021/22 Season. The 27-year-old, who has won 26 caps for her country, can operate equally effectively as a central defender or as a holding midfielder and lists English giants Manchester City among her former clubs. After spending the last three years in the Swedish top-flight, where she claimed a league winners’ medal with Rosengard in 2019, Leth Jans is excited at the prospect of beginning a new chapter in her career at Glory.
Glory will play their first public pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening (7pm) when ECU Joondalup will provide the opposition at Dorrien Gardens in what is a fundraising event for Danny Hodgson. Hodgson, an ECU player, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital having been the victim of a brutal assault at Perth Train Station earlier this month. Having fallen behind in the 13th minute when a low shot from Sean McManus was deflected into his own net by the luckless Aidan Coyne, Glory found themselves 2-0 down early in the second half after Robert Harding drilled home via the underside of the bar.
Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that midfielder Sadie Lawrence has signed with the club for the W-League 2021/22 Season. The 28-year-old returns to the Glory fold having previously made 17 W-League appearances in the famous purple between 2009 and 2012. With ten goals from 21 games for Murdoch University Melville FC, Lawrence has been in stellar form in the NPLW WA this season and the former Australia Under-20s representative is now hugely excited at the prospect of re-igniting her W-League career.
