He’s scored eight goals in the past eight games which has propelled him to star status in the Hyundai A-League.
Perth Glory’s Spanish marquee man Diego Castro, has earned a PFA Player of the Month nomination for his sublime performances during January.
In the past two weeks the 33-year old winger has scored two doubles, including a stunning ‘panenka’ penalty-kick against former Glory keeper Danny Vukovic in Glory’s thrilling 3-2 win over champions Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.
With a total of nine goals under his belt, the La Liga veteran has emerged as a leading playmaker in the league.
And with more stunning goals in store over the next 10 rounds, Castro is likely to continue to turn heads across the state.
“It’s flattering to be nominated for the award, but ultimately I’m just doing my job in what is a team effort. The plan ahead is to make the finals. Then perhaps we’ll have something to celebrate” said Castro.
Positive results in Wellington and Sydney over the next nine days could re-ignite Glory’s chances of a finals berth.
Perth hosts Brisbane Roar for its next home game at nib Stadium, on February 20.
