Glory will be out to vanquish another hoodoo when they travel to Leichhardt Oval for Saturday’s Ninja A-League Round 3 clash with Sydney FC (kick-off at 11:45am WST, watch live and FREE on 10.com.au).
The women in purple have not got the better of the Sky Blues since February 2020 when Morgan Andrews scored both goals in a 2-1 triumph at WIN Stadium.
But having secured a first win on the road since December 2023 against Western Sydney Wanderers in Round One, Head Coach Stephen Peters is targeting the end of another barren run.

“It would be great for us, great for our confidence,” he said.
“We try not to think about things like that in isolation too much, but the enormity of the situation would only hit us if we were to achieve that.
“They’re a very proud club and have won the competition the most times in its history, so it would mean a massive amount if we were to win at Leichhardt.”
Glory will make the trip east looking to bounce back from an unfortunate home defeat at the hands of Brisbane Roar and the Head Coach believes they will improve upon that performance at HBF Park.
“We’re looking to quickly move on from the loss,” he said, “take the learnings we can take from it and focus our full concentration on Sydney FC now.
“Out of the four goals we’ve conceded [this season], three of them were not from open play.
“One was from a corner and two from throw-ins, so the fundamentals of defending need to be applied there.
“We need to be switched on during all moments of the game.
“Overall we have to have more faith in our defensive system and be braver with it.”
Saturday’s opponents, meanwhile, have secured two draws from their opening two games and Peters has seen enough to be wary of Ante Juric’s side.
“If you look at those two games in isolation,” he said, “Melbourne City were the Premiers last year and Adelaide finished third, so I actually think those results were pretty good.
“Defensively they look well organised and they have quality that can hurt you if you don’t look after those counter-attacks in the right way.
“They’ve only had an average of 35% possession across the two games… but I believe Ante is a very experienced coach and a winner, so there’s a method to the madness there.”
In terms of early team news, meanwhile, Peters reported no fresh injury concerns emanating from the Brisbane game and also provided an update on midfielder Georgia Cassidy who is closing in on a return to full fitness.
“We just have to be really careful,” he said, “because we have three away games in a row now, so we need to make sure we nail when she’s exactly right and get her some practice minutes before she gets actual minutes.
“Hopefully off today’s session she builds a bit of continuity and starts to push for selection because we all know how much quality she has.”
Saturday will mark the 31st overall meeting between the two sides, with Sydney claiming 18 wins to Glory’s 10, one of which came in the 2019 Grand Final.
This season, Sydney twice led Melbourne City in Round One before being pegged back and then battled out a goalless away stalemate with Adelaide United.
Players to look out for in the home squad include 14-year-old defender Willa Pearson who has started both their games this term, experienced midfielder Mackenzie Hawkesby, Croatian international Bianca Galic and Panamanian import, Riley Tanner.
