Glory’s players will be flying the flag in a very real sense as part of what promises to be a memorable Pride Celebration at Macedonia Park on Saturday.
Brisbane Roar will provide the opposition in the Liberty A-League (kick-off at 4pm, tickets HERE) as the Australian football community comes together to signify the code’s ongoing commitment to making football accessible and inclusive for everyone.
In addition to Pride signage and matchday activations at Macedonia Park, Glory players will wear a specially-adapted Pride Celebration kit featuring rainbow socks and rainbow designs on the shirt and short numbers.
Glory skipper Tash Rigby, who was joined by teammates Izzy Foletta and Cyera Hintzen to model the adapted kit, believes that the Pride Celebration initiative is a major step forward for the game.
“It means so much to be able to support our pride community and to be able to celebrate and support them in the way that we are holding this round,” she told The West Australian as part of a photo feature story earlier this week.
“We’re able to be creating a safe space for them to feel comfortable in their own skin.
“It’s just about education, and holding these rounds so that we can create awareness around the challenges that people do face.”
