The Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season just moved a step closer with the publication of the official fixture list!

And it’s certainly a draw that will excite those of a purple persuasion with two massive double-headers against champions Melbourne City and old foes Sydney FC at nib Stadium to look forward to, plus a crunch clash with Canberra United at Dorrien Gardens which will ensure that the New Year starts with a bang.

Bobby Despotovski’s side have been handed a challenging start to the campaign in the form of back-to-back away games at Brisbane and Canberra, but those fixtures are balanced out after the international break by consecutive home dates with Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City.

December kicks off with a trip to Adelaide, followed by the Jets visiting Dorrien Gardens and Sydney FC then rolling into nib Stadium for an absolute blockbuster clash on the Friday before Christmas.

Glory round off 2018 with a Round 9 trip to AAMI Park to face Victory, before returning home for the latest installment of what has developed into an epic rivalry with Canberra.

Either side of a bye week, the women will then be in New South Wales to face both Newcastle and Western Sydney and they round off the regular season back at Dorrien under the Friday night lights when Melbourne Victory will provide the opposition.

In further good news for W-League fans, meanwhile, FFA has confirmed that for the first time ever, each and every game of the new season will be broadcast or streamed live via Fox Sports, SBS Viceland and the My Football Live app.

The profile of the women’s game has never been higher in this country and Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata is confident that the upcoming W-League season will be the best yet.

“Everything associated with the W-League just keeps getting bigger and better,” he said, “from the quality of the players to the media coverage dedicated to it.

“The fact that every game is being broadcast live this season is another fantastic development that will enable a wider audience to enjoy what is undoubtedly one of the best competitions in the world.

“It’s shaping up to be another hugely exciting season and also a very significant one in the development of women’s football in Australia.

“We’re all really looking forward to it getting underway on October 28th.”
