Versatile Bodnar re-signs with club on long-term deal

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that 22-year-old defender/midfielder Luke Bodnar has signed a three-year contract extension with the club.

The former PGFC Academy representative made his senior debut against Shanghai Shenhua in the 2020 AFC Champions League, before taking his ISUZU UTE A-League bow in March 2021.

He duly claimed the club’s DT38 Under-23 Player of the Year Award last season.

Equally accomplished operating as a centre-back or a holding midfielder, the proud Perth local is looking forward to adding to his current tally of 18 A-League appearances.

“It’s always a pleasure to play for your hometown club,” he said, “and when you’re given another opportunity with a whole new group of players and staff, you jump at it.

“After unfortunately missing a lot of last season due to injury, I can’t wait to get back out there and do my bit to drive the club forward next season.”

Glory Head of Recruitment, Andy Keogh, feels that Bodnar will have an important role to play next season and beyond.

“Securing Luke was integral to our vision going forward,” he said.

“He is highly regarded here at PGFC by all the staff and is a clear asset to the club.

“We have high hopes for him as he continues to progress in his career.”

Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
