Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that Tando Velaphi has signed a new, one-year deal with the club.

The 32-year-old ‘keeper returned to Glory last season having previously made over 70 appearances for his hometown team between 2007 and 2011.

And after being a member of the squad that clinched the Hyundai A-League Premiership in 2018/19, he is determined to help the club secure more silverware next term.

“I’m really pleased to have re-signed,” he said.

“The success the club achieved last year was fantastic, but as a group, we feel that we have unfinished business and plenty of improvement in us.

“I’m looking forward to playing my part in what I’m sure will be another exciting campaign for everyone involved with Glory.”

Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata, meanwhile, identified the re-signing of Velaphi as another example of the club’s commitment to building upon last season’s Premiership triumph.

“Our stated aim as a club is to achieve sustained success and we feel that the re-signing of Tando is another step in constructing the squad we need to fulfil that aim,” he said.

Those sentiments were echoed by Football Director Jacob Burns.

“Tando is the consummate professional who will again provide great competition for the first-team goalkeeping position,” he said.

“We will require a strong squad for the twin challenges of the upcoming Hyundai A-League and AFC Asian Champions League campaigns and Tando will have an important role to play.”

Further player announcements are expected in the near future.
