Club captains Adam Taggart and Izzy Dalton took out the respective Men’s and Women’s Most Glorious Player Awards at the club’s annual end-of-season event which took place at Perth’s Heath Ledger State Theatre on Monday evening.
More than 400 guests were on hand to see striker Taggart become just the third Glory player in history to go back-to-back as a stand-alone MGP, while midfielder Dalton claimed the club’s most prestigious individual award for the first time at the end of what was her second season in purple.
Taggart added the ALM Members’ Player of the Year and Golden Boot to his trophy collection, while midfielder Nicholas Pennington capped off his debut Glory season by being named Players’ Player of the Year.
Another recent midfield recruit, Luke Amos, picked up the Goal of the Season Award for his stunning strike against Brisbane Roar in Round 23 and there was joy too for rising star Jaylan Pearman who was rewarded for a breakout campaign by being crowned the DT38 Young Player of the Year.
For the Women, it was a night to remember for 20-year-old Perth local Tijan McKenna who took out the ALW Young Player and ALW Players’ Player of the Year trophies, with fellow-West Australian midfielder Georgia Cassidy receiving the Members’ Player of the Year Award and the Golden Boot going to New Zealand international forward Kelli Brown.
The ALW Goal of the Year Award, meanwhile, went to Ella Abdul Massih for her sensational free-kick which sealed a dramatic, last-gasp victory over Brisbane Roar at the Sam Kerr Football Centre on Australia Day.
