Stat Attack: Glory v Victory

Glory v Victory is a fixture which has rarely failed to deliver over the years.

Drama, controversy, ecstasy and anguish, we’ve seen it all.

Throw in the fact that Victory will be bringing more former Glory players and staff back to HBF Park on Wednesday night than Jason Davidson has had hair colours and this Stat Attack pretty much writes itself!

ON THE CUSP

Should he feature on Wednesday evening, Nick Fitzgerald will chalk up his 200th career A-League appearance.

To date, he has been on the winning side in five of his 16 appearances against Victory, scoring one goal.

EVEN STEVEN

Glory and Victory have met in the A-League on 49 occasions, with each side securing 19 wins.

That balance is reflected in the five most recent clashes which have produced two wins for Glory, two for Victory and one draw.

DAGGERS LOOKING SHARP

Former Glory man Nick D’Agostino has already passed his best ever goal return in an A-League season by finding the net on seven occasions this term.

His previous best effort came last year when he scored five times in 16 appearances for Glory.

COUNTING CARDS

Victory have received the joint-fewest yellow cards this year (30) along with Wellington Phoenix.

Glory’s tally of 35 is the third-lowest in the competition.

EVER-PRESENT

Darryl Lachman is the only Glory player to have featured in every A-League game this term.

The defender has started all 19 of the club’s matches, ahead of Antonee Burke-Gilroy and Jack Clisby who have appeared in 18 and 17 respectively.

HOME COMFORTS

13 of Glory’s 19 overall wins against Victory have come at HBF Park.

The men in purple won the first ever meeting between the clubs here in the west back in October 2005.

Brian Deane scored what proved to be his only Glory goal and Naum Sekulovski also found the net in a 2-1 home triumph.

POPA POINTS

Current Victory Head Coach Tony Popovic has come out on the right side of the ledger seven times in the 16 games he has coached against Glory (along with four draws and five defeats) for a win ratio of 44%.

During his time in charge of the WA club, meanwhile, he enjoyed a 52% overall win ratio.
