During the July school holidays we had a record number of kids attend Perth Glory Football Club-s Soccer Schools.
Upwards of 200 eager, smiling children enjoyed the holiday clinics and through numerous testimonials, reports and photos it is a great reflection of the level of excellence that the Glory-s community coaches offer.
With the presence of Perth Glory players, led by Captain Jacob Burns coaching at the Soccer Schools many children summed up the clinics as “the best ever”.
Daniel and Nick Walsh of Western Knights agreed, “‘we have been to so many Soccer Schools now, but we just love them, because they are a fun and exciting way to learn new skills and make new friends. We also love to meet our Glory heroes who always come to spend a bit of time with us, chatting to us and answering our questions.’
Perth Glory Midfielder Travis Dodd coached throughout the Soccer Schools and commented, “School holiday time is always busy and I remember attending these sorts of clinics when I was growing up, so it-s a joy to be giving back to the community and the kids.
We-ve had a ball throughout the week with everyone having so much fun. The players and I love getting involved in the community during the off season and hope to see all the young players when the A-League kicks off.”
Community and Development Manager Callum Salmon was very pleased with how the school holidays progressed. “It is testament to the hard work and quality of the coaches we are fortunate to have working at the club. We feel each individual is an outstanding coach and most importantly great people that provide the best environment for the Soccer Schools players.”
The coaching staff was led by Michael Garcia and ably assisted by Daniel Cappellaro, Tom Sellers, Rory Lowe, Calvin Whitney and Shannon Beniston.
“We-re looking forward to the October school holidays – watch this space for more Soccer Schools with new giveaways, improved exercises and the chance to meet our new signings on the cusp of the new A-League Season!” Salmon said.
As per usual the term 3 Community Football is set to be busy with strong numbers across all programs. Community and Development Officer Daniel Cappellaro encourages everyone to “BE PART OF IT!” with the Glory Skills available once again at Loftus (Leederville), Bouncers (Joondalup), Melville Recreation and Canning Courtside Perth Glory Defender and Glory Skills coach Josh Risdon.
