The women in purple will be out to maintain a 100% start to the season having secured back-to-back victories over Brisbane Roar in their opening two games.
WA’s current border restrictions then forced the postponement of their scheduled Round 3 home game against Canberra United and after an extended period on the training ground, Epakis feels that his charges are in a good place.
“We’re really excited for the game on New Year’s Day,” he said.
“I think the opportunity to play at Coopers Stadium is something that the players and staff are relishing.
“I think it’ll be a tough and exciting challenge and a good opportunity to see where we’re at after this two-week break that we’ve had.”
Despite Glory’s impressive start to the campaign, the Head Coach is adamant that there is no complacency within the group heading into the clash with an Adelaide side which has picked up three points from a possible nine so far this term.
“Adelaide, I believe, have been really strong in their performances so far,” he said, “and I don’t think the results really justify where they’re at as a group.
“They’re a strong team with good players, so we have to respect that and be really clear about where we’re at and that is that we’re going into a game with good confidence and a good idea of what we’re trying to do.
“It’s very easy after you win games to turn a blind eye to things, so we certainly haven’t done that.
“If anything, we’ve assessed our performances even more thoroughly and I think we want to improve in every aspect.
“We’re a team that is growing and is building and as a result of that, every week we expect to be better in every area.”
Glory will be seeking to end a six-game winless run against the Reds by securing what would be the club’s first victory in the South Australian captial since December 2016.
Adelaide have lost to both Melbourne clubs this year, but did manage to get the better off Canberra United in Round Two, with Emily Condon bagging the winner in stoppage-time at the Marden Sports Complex.
In terms of team news, Epakis is expecting to have a full squad at his disposal with the exception of Demi Koulizakis who is still recovering from her knee injury.
