In another blow to their finals hopes, Perth Glory Women have lost the services of striker Caitlin Foord after sustaining a fractured collarbone during the RD 12 clash against last year’s Champions Canberra United.
The 21-year old striker was taken to hospital and underwent surgery in Perth yesterday morning before flying out to the east-coast today, to be close with her family.
Foord joins fellow teammate and Matilda Samantha Kerr who is still nursing a season ending foot injury she sustained in RD 5 in Brisbane.
“If I was superstitious I’d say we were cursed but that’s the way it goes unfortunately’” said Glory Women’s Coach Bobby Despotovski.
“There are two games left in the season so from here on we wish Caitlin a speedy recovery and the girls in the squad will dig deep as they have done throughout the year for our final matches against Adelaide and the Wanderers” he said.
Foord and Kerr are both expected to recover in time for the Matilas Olympic qualifiers for Rio in March.
Glory Women host Adelaide United at Ashfield Reserve this Sunday in what will be the team’s last home match of the season.
