Perth Glory young gun Ndumba Makeche says becoming an Australian citizen last night was a moment he had dreamt of for a long time.
Born in Zambia, the 20 year-old striker received his citizenship during an emotional ceremony at the City of Stirling Reception Hall.
“I am very proud and also very humbled,” Makeche said.
“I have so many friends who would love to be in this position so I don-t take it for granted.
“I have dreamt of this day since I was 12 or 13 years-old.
Makeche-s special moment also took an unexpected twist when all his teammates turned-up to surprise and celebrate with him.
“It was overwhelming to see all the support, I had no clue they were coming.”
It has been a phenomenal twelve months for Makeche. Originally signed in 2011 by Perth Glory Youth this year, Makeche made his senior debut against Gold Coast in March and also signed his first professional contract.
“It-s unreal and everything has happened so fast,” he beamed.
