A late goal from Jade Pennock consigned Glory to an unfortunate 1-0 defeat against Central Coast Mariners at HBF Park on Friday afternoon.

The home side created the better of the chances throughout a rugged contest, with former Glory ‘keeper Sarah Langman forced to make a string of fine saves to keep them at bay.
But they were stung five minutes from time when a misunderstanding between Naomi Chinnama and Casey Dumont enabled Pennock to slot home into an empty net.
The women in purple came close to taking the lead twice inside the opening 15 minutes, Izzy Dalton forcing Langman into a spectacular, fingertip save before Chinnama headed narrowly over the bar from a Georgia Cassidy corner.
And Glory continued to threaten after the break, with Grace Johnston having a penalty appeal turned down and Gabby Hollar seeing her fierce, angled strike pushed over by Langman.
The breakthrough seemed inevitable and yet it was to come at the other end, Pennock taking full advantage of a breakdown in communication within the Glory backline to gleefully roll in her second goal of the season.
There was still time for Glory to register another strong claim for a penalty as this time substitute Miku Sunaga was bundled over in the box by Taylor Ray, but again referee Rebecca Durcau refused to point to the spot.
