On a wet night in the Harbour City, the English import bagged his first goal six minutes after the restart, then doubled his tally from the penalty spot after the VAR harshly penalised Andriano Lebib for handball and rounded out the scoring with a close-range finish two minutes from time.

Glory’s best chance of the night, meanwhile, fell to Trent Ostler just after Lolley’s opener, but he placed his shot from inside the box narrowly wide of the target.

Looking to secure a first win at Allianz Stadium since 2016, David Zdrilic’s side competed well in the first half and came close to grabbing the lead when Jarrod Carluccio’s tenacity created a half-chance for Adam Taggart whose goalbound shot was deflected just wide.

Sydney’s attacking endeavours yielded only a free-kick from Lolley which Oli Sail turned away and an effort from Adrian Caceres which Andriano Lebib cleared off the line, but after the break they looked decidedly more dangerous and soon broke the deadlock.

Anthony Caceres did the groundwork, eventually finding Lolley who fired into the bottom corner and after Ostler was unable to respond with his chance at the other end, Ufuk Talay’s men took full advantage.

Their second goal arrived from the penalty spot, Lolley sending Sail the wrong way after the VAR adjudged Lebib to have handled the ball while trying to prevent Patryk Klimala from reaching a cross, a decision which looked very rough on the young Glory defender.

And in the shadows of full time, Lolley slotted in what was his ninth goal in six appearances against Glory to ice the cake for the hosts.
