Giordano Colli struck from the spot as the PGFC Academy First Team came from behind to secure a deserved 1-1 draw with Perth SC in Saturday’s NPL WA clash at Crazy Domains Stadium, Hartfield Park.
Ruben Zadkovich’s side found themselves trailing early in the piece after a goalbound header from Alex Silla was inadvertently helped over the line by Aidan Coyne, but duly hit back just short of the hour-mark.
Adam Zimarino, who was lively throughout, was rewarded for his persistence when he was brought down in the box and skipper Colli calmly went straight down the middle with the resulting penalty.
In a game of few clear-cut chances, Glory’s best opportunity of the first half came when Zimarino provided an enticing cut-back, but neither Josh Anasmo nor Charlie Leech were able to apply a finish.
And Leech went close again shortly after the break when he just failed to convert Colli’s corner which had flashed all the way across the face of goal to the far post.
For the visitors, meanwhile, Federico Achilli and Kristian Santich both fired wastefully over the bar in the latter stages.
The result leaves Glory in sixth spot, four points outside the top four with a visit to unbeaten league leaders Floreat Athena up on Saturday 26 June.
In the day’s other games, the Under-18s recorded a 0-0 draw, while the Under-20s were edged out 2-1.
