Morgan Andrews has capped a memorable maiden season with Glory by claiming a share of the Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season Golden Boot.
The 24-year-old found the net seven times over the course of the regular campaign, joining Kristen Hamilton (Western Sydney Wanderers), Natasha Dowie (Melbourne Victory) and Remy Siemsen (Sydney FC) at the top of the goalscoring chart.
It was a remarkable return from Andrews, not least because she operates as a midfielder rather than a striker and unlike her fellow-top-scorers, was not playing in a side that finished in the top four.
Remarkably, the US Under-23 international did not open her account for the club until Round 8 when she netted a stoppage-time penalty to secure her side a point away at Adelaide.
Her second goal came away at the Jets in Round 11 and the New Hampshire native then bagged back-to-back braces in wins over Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC, before rounding off the season with another effort in last weekend’s game against Western Sydney at Hay Park.
Andrews was quick to praise her Glory colleagues when asked for her response to news of the award.
“I am beyond grateful for the season I have spent with Perth Glory,” she said.
“It was a challenging yet exciting season spent with great people and players.
“I share the Golden Boot with my teammates as they were the ones who put me in the position to score. It certainly is a team award and I am so grateful.”
