Perth Glory can confirm that Chris Harold has had his contract terminated by mutual consent to allow him to explore opportunities elsewhere.
The 27-year-old joined Glory in 2012 and this year became the club’s record Hyundai A-League appearances-holder when he played his 143rd game in purple.
He opened his goalscoring account for Glory on his starting debut against Newcastle Jets and went on to find the net a further 22 times, with seven of those goals coming in the 2015-16 campaign.
In a heartfelt farewell message, Harold was quick to thanks the club’s members and fans for their support over the past seven years.
“To Perth Glory Football Club and it’s wonderful fans,” he said, “I have decided to move on to a fresh challenge.
“It saddens me to think that I am leaving the club where I have spent so long.
“Glory has been a massive part of my life, not just in a football sense and the support that I have received along the way has been terrific and has not gone unnoticed.
“I hope one day to be back playing in front of the Glory faithful as one of its own and I thank you always for your support.”
Glory Football Director Jacob Burns, who was a teammate of Harold’s for two seasons, was quick to pay tribute to the departing forward.
“Chris has been a great servant for the club on the field and a tremendous ambassador off it,” he said.
“His appearances record speaks for itself, but he has not seen much game-time more recently, hence today’s announcement that he is parting ways with the club.
“On behalf of everyone associated with Perth Glory I would like to sincerely thank Chris for what he has contributed to the club over the years and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
