Glory Owner and Chairman Tony Sage has this week been named Chairman of the London Football Exchange Football Group project.

The LFE Football Group project is the arm of the LFE that is creating a multi-club ownership platform through which the LFE will own multiple football clubs around the world and integrate a youth development and commercial pathway for male and female players, LFE Token holders and fans alike.

Mr Sage is relishing the prospect of driving the project forward and emphasised its potential significant benefits for Perth Glory.

“I am genuinely excited at entering this new role, as this will be a new chapter in my personal development and a great opportunity to be surrounded by energetic, intelligent people with great hearts who love football,” he said.

“For me the Perth Glory FC family I started and have enjoyed 13 great years at also has a huge part to play in my new role.

“The fact that we can integrate the Australian game with a development pathway potentially with England, wider Europe, South America and Asia, means that we are also developing the next level in terms of the future of the A-League and W-League itself.

“This being so close to my heart allows my new role globally to always ensure that the same love and care I have for the Aussie game is accentuated even more.

“With this platform, I am looking at the next 20 years of future development of the global game.

“Helping that integrate smoothly needs people like me, people who have run large organisations in the business world across both geographic and cultural borders.

“Winning A-League and W-League premierships, competing in the Asian Champions League this season and hosting both Chelsea and Manchester United in the past 18 months were all exciting, but developing players, such as, arguably one of the greatest players in the world, Sam Kerr, now at Chelsea, is truly what the game is all about.

“Sam is a true product of the determination of Perth Glory FC to lead the way in the women’s game.”

Co-Founder of the London Football Exchange, Jim Aylward is similarly thrilled to have Mr Sage on board.

“PGFC and Tony have been such a huge influence on many careers by championing Aussie football across age groups and the women’s game, with players such as Sam Kerr of Chelsea fame,” he said.

“We are delighted to see Tony’s appointment given that the LFE is a global offering and the football group will be likewise.

“We are keen to connect the world of fans via the LFE digital and physical football platforms.”

An endorsement of Mr Sage’s contribution to the game and suitability for the LFE Football Group project role was also supplied by former Glory and Liverpool legend and current Brisbane Roar Head Coach, Robbie Fowler.

“What Tony has done for the men’s and women’s professional game in Australia should not be underestimated,” he said.

“I wish him well in his new role building the LFE Football Group and congratulate LFE on finding such a passionate Chairman to lead the Group.”
