Three members of the two-star PGFC Academy will be heading to Thailand later this month having been named in the Joeys (Australia Under-15s) squad for the upcoming 2019 AFF U-15 Championship.

Sebastian Gomez, Joshua Rawlins and Aiki Tsukamoto were all included in the 23-strong travelling party, with the young Aussies set to face the host nation, Malaysia, Laos, Camkbodia and Brunei Darussalam in Group B.

The tournament gets underway in the eastern city of Chonburi on July 27th, with the Final set for August 9th and Head Coach Trevor Morgan believes that it will provide his young charges with invaluable experience.

“The 2019 AFF U-15 Championship represents the start of this Joeys age group’s journey to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2021,” he said.

“With a minimum of five and up to seven international matches over the two weeks of the tournament, the AFF U-15 Championship will give the players selected a great introduction to international football.

“Our time in Chonburi will also provide our staff with the chance to work on some key principles with the boys ahead of our 2020 AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers in Vietnam in September this year.”

Gomez, Tsukamoto and Rawlins have all featured on a regular basis for Glory in the NPL WA this season, with the latter also making a late appearance off the bench for the senior team in last weekend’s friendly against Manchester United.

We’d like to wish the lads all the very best and will provide regular updates on their progress once the tournament gets underway.
