The hugely successful Match Day Precinct catered for 200 keen youngsters. Development coaches have coached at three primary schools as well as the ongoing specialist development programs and the newly organised “Let-s Play Fourz” after school club.
Fremantle, Caversham and Coogee Primary School were visited by Community and Development Officer Michael Garcia with Community and Development coaches Dan Cappellaro and Jason Smith.
The Match Day Precinct was held on Saturday and is getting more and more popular each game. Over the course of the 90 minutes preceding the game against Sydney FC over 200 junior footballers heard the DJ-s tunes, played small sided games and obtained signed giveaways from Australian Youth Internationals Adam Taggart and Jesse Makarounas.
There is a strong rumour that an inflatable field will soon be added into the pre match fun!
Wednesday was one of the busiest days in recent history for the Glory coaching team. The day started with a clinic for 150 students at Fremantle Primary School, followed by an After School Club at Coogee Primary School and ending late into the evening with GK Junior Development Academy. Our Goalkeeping stars of the future are coached by Jonathon Gould and ably assisted by the first team ‘keepers Danny Vukovic and Neil Young.
Thursday afternoon the Community and Development coaches visited Caversham Primary School in the West Swan area. 120 students participated in exercises organised by Community Development Officer Michael Garcia. In the evening the Summer Development Program North was held at Sorrento FC-s Marri Park under the guidance of Garcia with the south/central group being directed by Community and Development Manager Callum Salmon at Inglewood Utd-s 6PR Stadium.
Garcia commented,
“It has been an excellent week, the reception at each school has been fantastic and it is obvious to all our coaches that each player we have in our development program is improving. Our focus is on getting out in the community engaging and connecting with the West Australian public and at the moment we feel we are succeeding – although we will always evaluate and improve as our programs grow.”
