In hot and windy conditions at Hindmarsh Stadium with the temperature over 30C, Perth Glory created a series of very good chances and were unlucky not to win the game.
“It-s a great point,” Ferguson said.
“It-s a tough venue to visit and I-m pleased with the result”.
Billy Mehmet gave Perth Glory a deserved lead on the stoke of half-time with a simple finish from a slick build up. The brilliance of Liam Miller was pivotal to the move, his pass to Heffernan out wide opened the Adelaide defence as Mehmet coolly finished from close range.
Dario Vidosic equalised four minutes into the second half for the home side before a flurry of great chances could-ve given Perth Glory all three points.
On 59 minutes Scott Jamieson forced a big save from Eugene Galekovic, his curling shot into the bottom corner parried away by the Adelaide ‘keeper.
Six minutes later, Nick Ward had Galekovic beaten, but his header from a Jamieson corner crashed the crossbar.
Star striker Shane Smeltz was introduced with 21 minutes to play and he had an immediate impact, shooting straight at Galekovic.
With time ticking, Perth Glory had another great opening as Mehmet squared a cross to Travis Dodd who fired over the bar from close range.
Adelaide also had their chances but Perth Glory goalkeeper Danny Vukovic produced a solid display.
The Glory sit in fourth spot on the Hyundai A-League ladder after 6 rounds ahead of two back-to-back home games against Western Sydney Wanderers and Wellington Phoenix.
