Assistant Coach Gallen departs club

Perth Glory can confirm that Assistant Coach Joe Gallen has parted company with the club for family reasons.

The experienced Englishman arrived as part of a restructuring of the football department in July 2022.

Glory CEO, Anthony Radich, was quick to pay tribute to Gallen and the work he carried out during his time with the club.

“We’re very sorry to see Joe go,” he said, “and it’s disappointing that we won’t be able to fully reap the rewards of his vast experience and deep knowledge of the game.

“But we do, of course, fully respect his decision and on behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Joe and send him and his family our very best wishes for the future.”

Those sentiments were echoed by Glory’s Head of Recruitment, Andy Keogh.

“Unfortunately Joe’s family was unable to settle here in Australia,” he said.

“Ultimately, his family comes first and they wanted to go back to the UK.

“Joe tried to make it work until the end of the season, but it all got too much for the family and Joe took the decision that it was time to return home.

“We’re extremely disappointed, but we thank him sincerely for all his efforts and all the knowledge that he has passed on to us in his time with Glory.

“We wish him all the best in the UK and hope to see him back in Perth at some point in the future.”
