In between stages of their Amazing Race challenge on Rottnest Island, a number of Glory players headed along to visit Beaconsfield Primary School (Rottnest Campus).
Catering for children from kindergarten age to Year 4, the beautiful school has only seven pupils in total and with two of those currently away on holiday, it meant that five were on hand to enjoy a big surprise when Chris Harold, Jacob Poscoliero and Daniel Stynes appeared bearing Glory gifts.
Once the gifts had been handed over and high-fives exchanged, resident teacher Jo Salmond led the group down to the adjoining oval where, with barely a quokka in sight, an impromptu penalty shoot-out ensued.
Soon enough, the children were rifling penalties past Stynes who was game enough to jump in goal where he soon demonstrated that as a goalkeeper, he makes a very good outfield player!
When the final penalty found the back of the net, the players were waved off at the school gate and were soon heading to the nearby beach at Thompson’s Bay where Strength and Conditioning coach Toby Horak had a gruelling core and boxing session set up ready to go.
But the fantastic five pupils did leave us with one final message and it was a potentially reassuring one for the Socceroos should things not go their way tonight:
