Glory Head Coach David Zdrilic is excited by the opportunity to run the rule over his new-look squad when they take on Armadale SC in Tuesday’s opening pre-season friendly at Alfred Skeet Reserve (kick-off at 7pm, admission FREE).
The clash with the NPL WA side will form a key part of Glory’s preparations for their Australia Cup Play Off tie against Brisbane Roar which is set to take place in Darwin just a week later.
And with so many new recruits having arrived during the off-season, the Head Coach is keen to accelerate the gelling process.
“It’s fantastic to have this opportunity to give our squad a hit-out ahead of next week’s Cup fixture,” he said, “and we’re extremely grateful to Armadale SC for hosting us.
“The lads have worked very hard in training over the last few weeks and have really embraced the style of play that we want to implement this year.
“This game against Armadale SC gives us the chance to put aspects of what we’ve been working on into practice in a game situation and I know the lads are keen to get out there and play.
“We’re all looking forward to giving our Members and fans a glimpse of the kind of football they can expect to see this season and I’m sure that along with the home supporters, they’ll create a really good atmosphere on the night.”
Glory will be up against an Armadale SC side currently enjoying a solid season in the NPL WA.
Alun Vernals’ men collected their sixth win of the campaign last weekend when they downed Western Knights 2-0, a result which lifted them to fifth in the table.
Pieter Jacobcz grabbed both of his side’s goals to join Perth RedStar’s Daryl Nicol as the competition’s leading scorer with 14.
A host of players are poised to make their Glory debuts on Tuesday evening, including Abdul Faisal, Nathanael Blair, Taras Gomulka, Zach Lisolajski and Lachlan Barr.
The canteen and bar at Alfred Skeet Reserve will be open from 6pm and with car parking limited, supporters are urged to arrive early if possible.
