Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that teenage midfield duo Tijan McKenna and Ischia Brooking have returned to their hometown club for the 2024/25 A-League Women’s season.
McKenna previously made 15 ALW appearances for Glory between 2020 and 2023 before completing a move to Melbourne City for whom she featured on 13 occasions last season as the Victorian side claimed the Premiership title.
A regular member of the Young Matildas squad, the 19-year-old has showcased her versatility by operating equally effectively in central midfield and at full-back.
Brooking, meanwhile, made ALW history in November of last year by becoming the youngest player ever to feature in the competition when she debuted for Western Sydney Wanderers aged just 14.
The attacking midfielder, who first rose to prominence with the Hyundai NTC side, was part of Glory’s extended squad before moving to Wanderers ahead of the 2023/24 campaign in which she went on to make a total of five senior appearances.
A former John Curtin College of the Arts student, Brooking has impressed at international level where she played a key role in helping the Junior Matildas qualify for this year’s AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup.
Glory Head Coach Stephen Peters is excited to see McKenna and Brooking fulfil their huge potential on home soil.
“Tijan and Ischia have both returned to Glory after heading over east and they will be all the better for having that experience under their belts,” he said.
“The fact that they are such fixtures in their respective age-group squads at national level speaks volumes about their abilities.
“It’s fantastic to add another two high-quality WA players to our squad and I am confident that they will continue their development with us in the upcoming season.”
Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
