William Gallas and Alessandro Del Piero are the only two players currently in the A-League to have played in a World Cup Final, and when Sydney FC meets Perth Glory FC in the Round 19 match at Allianz Stadium, just as many sparks are expected to fly.

It-s been over 2700 days since these last two met in Berlin, 2006, and on Saturday, February 15th, Gallas will walk out to face his rival once again.

“I remember him when he came on (in the final) but I remember him better when he played for Juventus. He was the most unbelievable playmaker for them” Gallas said. “I haven’t played him since then, maybe one friendly game, but like I said, I remember him for being one of the best playmakers.”

Fans will remember the final as being one of the most controversial ever with the French National captain, Zinedine Zidane, being sent off after 110- of intense football.

Other players in that final included recent FIFA Ballon D-OR nominee Frank Ribéry, Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry, Fabio Cannavaro and Juventus Duo, Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo.

When asked if he thinks Del Piero is having a positive impact on the Hyundai A-League, Gallas sees no negatives. “He has had a very strong impact because with his quality and his professionalism, the young Australian players will improve and as well, more players from Europe will be attracted to this league.”
