West Ham at Optus Stadium – what they said…

There was quite a crowd at the BHP Amphitheatre next to Optus Stadium this morning as the announcement was made confirming that Glory would take on West Ham United at the state-of-the art venue on Saturday 15 July ((ticketing information HERE).

With the Hammers also poised to face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur three days later, it is shaping up to be a memorable week of football here in WA

Once the formalities of the media conference were over, we caught up with Glory CEO Anthony Radich and striker Adam Taggart, plus West Ham legend and club ambassador Carlton Cole to get their take on it.

Anthony Radich: “It’s fantastic that we’re included in this event this time around.
“To have our brand sit alongside two great football clubs in West Ham and Tottenham coming to Perth is really great for Glory Members, fans, supporters and our staff.
“It’s great that we’ve got football in the spotlight in our State over the month of July.
“These things don’t happen easily; there’s a lot of back and forth and consultation, but as I said, to have us being a part of this event is fantastic and hopefully it’ll be a permanent thing going forward for future events like this.
“To our Members and fans, I say come along, have a great time and make the most of the occasion.
“This time around, we’re going to be throwing everything at it.
“We’ll have a lot of young guys on show keen to show their wares.
“Just have a great night out in July and celebrate the fact that football is being celebrated in our State and we’re on show.”

Adam Taggart: “It’s massive for the club and the whole Perth community and I know everyone’s really looking forward to it, especially myself.
“Being from Perth, you understand the magnitude and the excitement behind it for everyone who’s also from here.
“It’s a big event and a great chance for Perth Glory to test ourselves up against world-class opposition and it’ll be great for spectators and for us to watch their game as well [West Ham v Tottenham).
“It’ll be fantastic.”

Carlton Cole: “Perth Glory are going to be coming out of the traps making sure they leave no stone unturned.
“They’re going to make it hard for the boys and it’ll be a great game.
“At the end of the day, football always wins.
“We’re looking forward to a great game against Perth Glory who will be throwing everything at us to beat us and it would be a great win if they did beat one of our great clubs and great for Australian football as well.
“Come down, support, make loads of noise, get that atmosphere going and the juices flowing and enjoy the game.
“We’re going to put on a great show.”
