Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that Welsh international winger Megan Wynne has joined the club’s A-League Women’s squad for the next two seasons.
The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience from the English Super League and Championship where she represented Watford, Millwall, Tottenham Hotspur, Bristol City, Charlton Athletic and most recently, Southampton.
Wynne also played collegiate football in the USA with East Tennessee State Buccaneers, while at international level, she earned Under-17 and Under-19 caps for Wales before making her senior debut against Turkey in April 2013.
She duly featured on a regular basis for her country during several FIFA Women’s World Cup and UEFA Women’s European Championship qualifying campaigns, with her most recent cap coming against the USA in July of last year.
Glory’s latest off-season recruit cannot wait to embark upon a new stage of her career here in Perth.
“For most of my career I’ve played within England and therefore I know now that I’m ready for a new challenge and to test myself in a new league,” she said.
“I’ve always looked at the A-League from afar and thought it would be somewhere I would love to play my football.
“So when the opportunity came to join Perth Glory, I was over the moon and there was no way I could turn it down.
“I’m so excited to have Perth as my home for the next two seasons and I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and all the staff.
“I’m looking forward to showing the fans what I can bring to the squad, as well as continuing to learn and develop.
“I’ll give my everything to make sure this season is a successful one.”
Glory Head Coach Stephen Peters is confident that Wynne will be a potent attacking weapon in the upcoming season.
“Megan is a vastly experienced winger who has the appetite and ability to beat defenders and deliver quality crosses into the box,” he said.
“I’m sure our strikers will thrive upon the service she’ll provide from wide areas and that our Members and fans will really enjoy watching her in action.
“Megan is another key addition to our squad and we look forward to her making a major impact for the club this year.”
Further signing announcements will be made shortly.
