Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that versatile 21-year-old Emma Tovar has joined the club’s Ninja A-League squad for the 2025/26 Season.
Tovar, who operates primarily as a midfielder but can also slot in at centre-back, has spent the last three years playing in Spain’s top flight for Valencia and recently forced her way into the Philippines national squad.
She is now looking forward to opening a new chapter in her football career with Glory.
“The opportunity actually came through the Philippines national team coach Mark Torcaso who gave me the connection to [Glory Head Coach] Stephen Peters and Perth Glory,” she said.
“He spoke very highly about the league and the club and so that made me more excited to get in touch and get to know more about not only Perth Glory, but the A-League as well.
“Coming from Spain, I think the playing styles are very different and so I think not only am I going to learn a lot, I’m going to be able to take what I learned in Spain and bring it over to the A-League.
“I think the chemistry on and off the field is going to help a lot with us being successful in games and in the league.
“Finding our own rhythm and style of play is going to be really important and I think I can contribute to that and also learn a lot from the other girls.”
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis believes that Tovar has the potential to be an excellent addition to Stephen Peters’ squad.
“Emma has everything she needs to be a success in the ALW,” he said.
“She’s very comfortable in possession and tenacious out of it, plus she brings that versatility in terms of being able to play in midfield or at the back.
“Playing regularly at such a high level in Spain has provided her with invaluable experience and really helped her hone her technical ability.
“We are confident that Emma will have an important role to play for Glory this season.”
Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
