Our three golden goal scorers reflect on their first goals of the season following our 3-2 win over the Newcastle Jets on Saturday night.
This is what Steven McGarry, Nick Ward and Chris Harold said about their decisive strikes.
Steven McGarry:
“It-s always good to score a goal but to score from outside the box from 25 yards was pretty good.
“There was plenty of bodies in the box but I was lucky enough everyone managed to get out of the way.
“I watched the game on replay when I got home and Bas did extremely well to jump over the ball. It was a nice way to get on the score sheet this season.”
Nick Ward:
“The celebration was for my fashion label (People Australia), it-s just the logo so I was just trying to get a plug out there.
“My brother actually wanted me to do an aeroplane celebration because he just got his pilots licence but I thought I better give my label a push.”
Chris Harold:
“I was lucky enough the ball landed at my feet in the six-yard box and I couldn-t really miss, so I-m really, really happy.
“I wasn-t that far out, a few players went up to contest the ball and I was lucky enough that the ball dropped at my feet and I just had to make sure it went in.
