Taggart: “I’ve found my love for the game again”

Taggart: “I’ve found my love for the game again”

Life back in Perth has reinvigorated Adam Taggart’s passion for the beautiful game.

Taggart’s time in England and Scotland was blighted by injuries and last year returned home to Perth to kick-start his career.

And it’s already proving dividends with the striker banging five goals from six starts, averaging a goal every 98 minutes.

“I came back here to get a good run of games and sort-of find my love for the game again,” said the in-form attacker.

“Especially over the last couple of months, I’ve been able to stay fit and play regular football and even just being back in my hometown where I can play in front of family and friends again.”

“Having a win on the weekend, I think that’s sort of topped the last month off.”

Despite his rich vein of form in front of goal, the forward is adamant that there is still room for improvement.

“I never really like to just think that I’m always going to have a spot in the team. I think it’s important to have in the back of your mind that anything can happen.”

“You just need to stick to the basics of working hard and constantly trying to improve. I think that’s always been my focus to try and just improve each week, try and be better in each training session and  you know, the rest sort of takes care of itself.”

Taggart, a former A-League Golden Boot winner with Newcastle Jets, will return to Hunter Stadium on Sunday to face his former employers and help Glory record back-to-back wins.

“There’s a job that needs to be done and like I said, it’s great that we got the win but we really need to carry it on. There’s no time to celebrate over one win. There’s still a lot of room to grow and I think Newcastle is a great opportunity to go and get a win, start a run and then we come back to another game that’s going to be a massive test for us.”

Glory face sixth-placed Newcastle on Sunday 15th January.

Kick-off is at 5 PM and will be live on Fox Sports 505.
