Taggart claims Golden Boot, Aquino makes PFA Team of the Season

Glory duo Adam Taggart and Morgan Aquino have both received recognition for their outstanding performances over the course of the 2023/24 A-Leagues season.

Men’s skipper Taggart will receive the ALM Golden Boot for the second time in his career having scored a remarkable 20 goals, two more than next-best Bruno Fornaroli managed for Melbourne Victory.

The 30-year-old Socceroo previously won the award with Newcastle Jets a decade ago and has now taken his career A-League goals tally to 76 in 148 games, with 47 of those coming for Glory.

Only Andy Keogh (59) and Diego Castro (49) have scored more A-League goals for Glory than Taggart.

Aquino, meanwhile, has been named in the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) ALW Team of the Season.

The 22-year-old Perth local made an incredible 126 saves across the course of the campaign, recording a save percentage of 81.1 in the process.

The inaugural PFA A-League Team of the Season was announced in 2009 and has been revealed annually in A-League Grand Final week for the past 15 seasons.

Based on peer recognition, selection in the PFA Team of the Season remains one of the highest accolades a professional footballer can receive in Australia.

Both Taggart and Aquino are very much in the running to receive further honours at the club’s Most Glorious Player Awards event which will take place at the State Theatre on Monday evening.
