Symphony of sunflowers: a glorious cause

Perth Glory’s charity partner Therapy Focus will be present at this Sunday’s clash against the Central Coast Mariners to encourage people to get involved in their Symphony of Sunflowers campaign.

Perth Glory-s charity partner Therapy Focus will be present at this Sunday-s clash against the Central Coast Mariners to encourage people to get involved in their Symphony of Sunflowers campaign.

This the second year that Perth Glory have supported the Symphony of Sunflowers, a fundraising event which encourages everyone to plant a sunflower to celebrate the inclusion of children with special needs. Therapy Focus is Western Australia-s largest provider of therapy and support services to children with a disability or learning disadvantage.

Perth Glory star Branko Jelic is an ambassador for the event and is passionate about supporting children with disabilities.

Having a son with autism, Jelic says he understands how difficult it can be to make friends and socialise in sport and at school.

“It-s great to see such a positive event to help the community support children with special needs,” Jelic said.

Therapy Focus volunteers will be stationed at gates one and three, selling sunflower kits and other products which will aid the Symphony of Sunflowers cause. Perth Glory urges all fans and members to support this fantastic initiative.

If you miss out at the game this weekend, there are Symphony of Sunflowers products available at several retail stores including; Sunflower Seed Kits available from Waldecks, Sunflower Seedling Punnets available from Bunnings, Sunflower Body Butter available from Mt Romance and The Garden Gurus West Australian Gardening Guide available from bookstores.

Participants who purchase a Symphony of Sunflowers Seed Kit can win a share of $5,000 of prizes thanks to Perth Glory, the Garden Gurus, Mr Fothergill-s, Benara Nurseries, Mt Romance, Richgro and Waldecks.

All proceeds from the sale of these products will go to providing specialised equipment, activities, resources and therapy services to children with disabilities to help them communicate, participate and be included at school and in the community.
