Academy First Team defeated, U18s and 20s march on

The PGFC Academy First Team were unable to keep the pressure on NPL WA leaders Bayswater City on Saturday as they went down to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of fellow-high-fliers, Stirling Macedonia.

John Walmsley’s side found themselves trailing after 17 minutes when Daniel Faichney was picked out by Kade Fearnall and fired past Robert Cook in the Glory goal.

To their credit, the youngsters responded well to that set-back and were very much in the contest up until the 85th minute when Sammim Fattahi doubled Stirling’s lead with a curling free-kick.

The home side duly added extra gloss to the scoreline right at the death when Calvin Whitney followed up to find the net on the rebound after Cook had produced his second penalty save in as many weeks.

There was better news for the Under-18s and Under-20s, however, both of whom secured maximum points.

Santiago Flores helped himself to a hat-trick as the 18s won 6-1 and Royie Rahamim also notched a treble in a 6-0 victory for the 20s.

Next on the agenda for the First Team is Saturday’s trip to Retravision Stadium in Albany for the Regional Round clash with Sorrento FC (kick-off at 4pm).

Ahead of that, the Under-18s and Under-20s will face the Gulls this Wednesday (24th May) at Percy Doyle Reserve, with the games getting underway at 6pm (18s) and 8pm (20s).
