Stat Attack: Sydney FC v Glory

As we prepare to renew hostilities with the Sky Blues at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday (kick-off at 4.45pm WST, catch all the action on Channel Ten), here are some pre-crunched numbers, stats and historical nuggets for you to mull over…

Friends and Foes

A host of players have worn both purple and sky blue in the A-League over the years, including Aaron Calver, Brandon O’Neill and Liam Reddy, all of whom are set to be in the Glory squad on Saturday.

Other notable dual representatives include Richard Garcia, Ruben Zadkovich, Scott Jamieson, Simon Colosimo, Danny Vukovic, Jamie Coyne and Brendan Santalab.

Mixed Fortunes

Glory frontman Bruno Fornaroli has only been on the winning side once in 13 games against Sydney FC.

But the Uruguayan has managed to score six goals in those games.

Head To Head

Sydney FC have won 29 of the 49 previous meetings between the two sides, with Glory claiming maximum points on nine occasions.

The most recent of those victories for the men in purple came in January 2019 and Glory’s last away victory over the Sky Blues came in February 2016.

Minutes Men

Jonathan Aspropotamitis has played more minutes for this season (443) than any other Glory player.

Bruno Fornaroli (421), Kosuke Ota (420) and Darryl Lachman (419) round out the top four.

Rich and Ron

Saturday will see Richard Garcia taking charge of his 32nd A-League game as Glory Head Coach, drawing level with Ron Smith.

Kenny Lowe remains well clear at the top of Glory’s A-League games managed list with 128.

Adam le Goal!

Adam le Fondre and Elvis Kamsoba lead Sydney FC’s scoring chart for the current campaign having each found the net on two occasions.

Englishman le Fondre has now scored a remarkable 45 goals in 69 appearances for the Sky Blues.
