It’s that time of the week again… the Opta stats have dropped and we’ve added a few of our own into the mix to make sure that you’re across all the key numbers ahead of Sunday’s Round 27 clash with Wellington Phoenix at HBF Park (click HERE for tickets).
Glorious Form
Glory have lost only two of their last ten meetings with Wellington and have take four points off the Kiwi side this term courtesy of a 1-1 draw in Round 6 and a 3-0 win in Round 17.
Spot On
Neil Kilkenny leads the league in terms of successful penalties this term with five.
Phoenix’s Roy Krishna, meanwhile, has managed to bag 18 goals this season despite missing three times from the spot.
Fast Finishers
Tony Popovic’s men have scored a competition-high 14 goals in the final 15 minutes of games this season.
Wellington have scored seven in the same time period.
Dominant Dura
Phoenix veteran Andrew Durante remains the club’s go-to defender.
He leads their stats this season for blocks (25), interceptions (40) and clearances (109).
Heads Up
Glory still lead the league in terms of headed goals this year with 10, while Phoenix are joint-bottom in this category with three.
The visitors have bagged two direct free-kicks, however, while Glory are yet to register one so far.
Firing v Phoenix
Glory forward Chris Ikonomidis has scored three times in just four appearances against Wellington.
Two of those goals came during his spell with Western Sydney last term and he added the third in Glory’s 3-0 over Phoenix back in early February.
Hot Shots
Glory and Wellington have both been among the league’s most accurate teams in front of goal this season.
Tony Popovic’s side lead the competition with 53% of shots on target, while Mark Rudan’s men are third with 50.4%.
Tough To Topple
Glory are yet to taste defeat after taking the lead in a game this term and Wellington have only been beaten once after hitting the front.
