At the business end of the season, what do you really need?
- Nerves of steel
- A clear, focused mind
- A good range of sweet and savoury snacks readily available
- Family and friends who understand why you’re distracted and irritable
- A selection of relevant stats and historical trivia
We can definitely help with the last of those…
Glorious Recent Record
Glory have won five of their last six meetings with the Reds, scoring an average of three goals per game during that run.
This season’s two previous meetings between the sides ended in 5-3 and 2-1 victories for the men in purple.
Milestone Men
Bruno Fornaroli is set to make his 50th appearance for Glory on Wednesday evening and Chris Ikonomidis is poised to take his career tally of A-League games to 50.
Fornaroli has scored nine times in his 12 appearances against the Reds, while Ikonomidis has bagged two in five.
Distance Diversity
No team has conceded more goals from outside the box this season than Adelaide United who have copped six.
In complete contrast, no team has conceded fewer goals from outside the box than Glory (3).
Creator-In-Chief
This season, Adelaide’s Ben Halloran has made 17 carries of the ball which have ended in a chance being created.
Only Melbourne City’s Craig Noone has made more (18).
Rare Joy For Reds
Glory have not lost to the Reds at home since January 2018.
The visitors eased home 3-0 on that occasion, with Daniel Adlung, Nathan Konstandopoulos and Joahn Absolonsen claiming the goals.
Keogh Closing In
Andy Keogh is just three games away from setting a new, all-time A-League appearances record for Glory.
The 35-year-old striker is currently on 141 games, one behind Josh Risdon and two short of current record-holder, Chris Harold.
On A Roll
If Glory claim the points tonight, they will be one win short of equalling the club’s record for consecutive A-League victories which stands at five (from Round 16 to Round 20 in 2015-16).
The club’s longest winning streak in the NSL, meanwhile, was eight games between October and December 2001.
Leading From The Back
Adelaide defender Jordan Elsey is currently leading the club’s stats for the season in a number of categories including passes attempted (1263), passes in own half (753) and clearances (102).
