NPL Wrap: Senior Academy teams complete vital clean sweep

The senior PGFC Academy teams enjoyed a highly-successful weekend in the NPL WA, each securing vital victories over Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park.

The Under-18s began the day with a hard-fought 1-0 win courtesy of a goal from Louis Sollitt and those three points clinched them the league title with two games still left to play.

The Under-20s duly followed suit, Abdulla Dofash grabbing a hat-trick and Seb Despotovski, Royie Rahamim, Gert Prinsloo and Daniel Adesina also getting on the scoresheet in a 7-0 triumph as they too secured the league title.

A clean sweep on the day was then completed by the First Team who came from a goal down to win 4-1 and climb into the middle reaches of what remains an incredibly congested NPL table.

Glory made the worst possible start as Anthony Skorich put the hosts in front inside the opening five minutes, but by half-time they were level, Daniel Bennie’s low cross finding Joel Anasmo who slid home at the far post.

And City were then dealt another blow moments after the restart when defender Euen Grant was sent off for handling a goalbound effort from Bennie and Giordano Colli calmly converted the resulting penalty.

2-1 soon became 3-1, the irrepressible Bennie capping his latest burst down the right by crashing a shot into the roof of the net and the scoring was completed 15 minutes from time when Judd Macdougall sent James Overy racing in on goal and the substitute applied a composed finish.
