We’ve headed back to September 2005 for our Retro Corner shot this week and what a shot it is!
With the tree-lined perimeter of Olympic Park providing a delightfully rustic backdrop, there’s no mistaking the joy on the faces of the hardy band of travelling Glory fans as they celebrate one of our goals in a 2-2 draw with hosts Melbourne Victory.
The bare details of the Round 2 game are that Austrian striker Richard Kitzbichler gave Victory an early lead, before goals from Adrian Caceres and, inevitably, Bobby Despotovski, put Glory 2-1 up early in the second half.
But just as we seemed set to secure our maiden Hyundai A-League win, the home side pinched a point with a late penalty.
And who converted from the spot for the navy-and-whites?
The man who will be in charge of them at nib Stadium this Sunday afternoon and barely seems to have aged a day in the intervening 12-plus years; Kevin Muscat.
But enough of the on-field action, we’d like to know if anyone can spot themselves in the picture and what memories you may have of that inaugural A-League away trip.
So join the conversation on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
