Some of WA’s most talented youngsters were given a unique insight into the professional football environment last week via the club’s first ever Pre-Academy Camp.
Over the course of three full days, the 2010-born group took part in a host of activities at Glory HQ, including video analysis and strength and conditioning sessions, as well as onfield training at St John’s Wood under the guidance of the club’s highly-accredited Academy coaches.
Senior players Callum Timmins, Daniel Stynes and Carlo Armiento also dropped in for a spot of Q&A, as did club Football Operations Manager Terry McFlynn, while former Dundee United forward Jordan Moore delivered an inspiring talk to the group regarding his brave battle with cancer.
The camp formed a key part of the Pre-Academy program which is designed to aid the technical development of players and improve their mentality and game understanding as part of easing their transition into playing 11-a-side football on a full-sized pitch.
Players enrolled in the program remain with their existing clubs, with the Pre-Academy sessions designed to supplement rather than replace their club training.
