In addition to Liam Reddy who is preparing to play his 300th career Hyundai A-League game, Saturday’s clash with Western United is also set to be a significant one for Tony Popovic.
The behind-closed-doors fixture at HBF Park will be the Premiership-winning Head Coach’s 50th A-League match in charge of Glory and a 28th victory will be his sole objective.
Since taking up the reins ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, the former Socceroos defender has tasted A-League defeat on just nine occasions, with the 13 other games of his tenure to date ending all square.
His win percentage of 55.1 is comfortably the best of any Glory manager during the Hyundai A-League era, with Kenny Lowe’s 40.63% occupying second spot in the rankings.
Glory have scored 91 goals in Popovic’s 49 games, while conceding 45 and have been especially impressive away from home, making light of the gruelling travel demands placed upon them by losing just three of 24 on the road.
