All three PGFC Academy senior sides tasted victory across a memorable weekend of Top Four Cup and Pro/Rel Play Off action at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
Saturday saw the Under-18s and Under-20s take on Perth Red Star and Perth SC respectively with the Top Four Cup at stake and both managed to secure the silverware.
The 18s did so in dramatic fashion, eventually prevailing 6-5 on penalties after battling out a roller-coaster 3-3 draw.
Goals from Oliver Evans and Tyler Nyabinde put Glory 2-0 up early in the piece, only for Red Star to battle their way back to claim a 3-2 lead and it took a 90th minute effort from TadiswaShaun Mutyavaviri to make it 3-3.
A ruthless display in the shootout, however, saw Glory convert each of their six spot-kicks to clinch the win.
The 20s enjoyed a similarly thrilling clash with Perth SC, sharing seven goals on their way to sealing a league and Top Four Cup double.
Louis Sollitt and Will Ferson put them 2-0 up inside the opening half-hour and although Jack Sprigg replied for Perth SC just before the break, Alfie Knight restored Glory’s two-goal advantage early in the second half.
Sprigg almost immediately bagged his and Perth SC’s second, but Knight duly found the net again to make it 4-2 and Glory held on despite Clarence Musa reducing the arrears three minutes from time to prompt a tense finale.
A hat-trick of Academy victories was then sealed on Sunday as the First Team downed Mandurah City 5-0 to set up a Pro/Rel Play Off Final against Dianella White Eagles next Sunday (29th September).
Trailing 3-1 from the first leg, Glory wasted no time in forcing their way back into the tie as Khoa Ngo teed Jaylan Pearman up for the opening goal after 12 minutes.
Abdul Faisal proceeded to level the aggregate scoreline with a stunning strike and Glory went into the break 3-0 up after Adam Bugarija slipped substitute Joel Anasmo in on goal and he applied a composed finish.
Fears of a nervy ending to the game were dismissed 12 minutes from time when Pearman rifled home his second and Glory’s fourth and Bugarija almost immediately made it 5-0 via a close-range finish.
Sunday’s Play Off Final will take place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre with the kick-off time expected to be 4pm (TBC).
Many thanks to all our Members and fans who supported all three teams across the weekend!
