PGFC Academy Latest: First Team edged out, U18s and U20s secure maximum points

The PGFC Academy First Team showed significant improvement in Saturday’s home NPL WA clash with Fremantle City and were unfortunate to be edged out 1-0.

In addition to looking far more solid defensively than they have in recent weeks, the youngsters also created a string of decent chances and came agonisingly close to finding the net on multiple occasions, particularly in the second half.

Seb Despotovski rattled the City woodwork with a curling effort from outside the box, Khoa Ngo and Jaylan Pearman were narrowly off-target on several occasions and only a superb save from Luke Radonich prevented John Chalmers from putting through his own net.

And yet the only goal of the game came at the other end 11 minutes into the second half as former Glory defender Riley Woodcock clipped home a shot from 15 metres out.

Ahead of the First Team fixture, the Under-18s marked their return to action after a two-week lay-off in style, with Max Naylor grabbing a hat-trick and Cristiano Farfan also finding the net in a 4-0 victory.

The Under-20s were similarly convincing in their fixture, William Ferson (2), Aiden Rawlins and Louis Sollitt all on target as they ran out 4-1 winners.

Both the 18s and 20s will be in action again on Tuesday (30th July) as they play their catch-up games against Olympic Kingsway at the Sam Kerr Football Centre (18s at 6pm, 20s at 8pm).

The NPL WA then has a bye week next weekend before all three teams travel to Perth RedStar on Saturday 10 August.
