Tony Popovic will take charge of Glory for the first time on Wednesday evening as the club opens its pre-season campaign by taking on Perth SC at Dorrien Gardens (kick off at 7pm).

Bolstered by a string of new signings, the squad has been training intensively for close to a month and according to skipper Andy Keogh, they are raring to get back into action.

“It’s been a long time since our last 90 minutes,” he said, “and we are itching to go.

“The sessions have been tough and everyone is looking fit and sharp. The lads have adapted well to the new training regime, there’s a great sense of togetherness in the group and concentration levels have been good as well.

“Now we’re really looking forward to getting out there for this first game.”

Perth SC, meanwhile, are currently running fourth on the NPL WA ladder having won four of their last five games, including a vital 2-1 victory over fellow high-fliers Cockburn City last weekend.

In terms of players to look out for within the home side’s ranks, former NPL Golden Boot winner Gustavo Catarcione has long been one of the competition’s most dangerous forwards, while Paul Zimarino and Matthew Milenkovic have bagged 21 league goals between them this term.

Keogh has, of course, already crossed swords with Perth SC this season through his role as Head Coach of Inglewood United and he’s expecting them to provide a solid test for Glory.

“They have some good players, are fit and have plenty of pace out wide,” he said, “so it’s a good first hit-out and hopefully we’ll have plenty of our members and fans there supporting us.”

Admission to the game is FREE, but if you can’t make it, we will have full live coverage via Twitter HERE.
