It has already been a season of unprecedented success for Perth Glory Women. And there is no sign yet of an end to the record breaking campaign.
This Sunday, 30 November, the Westfield W-League Premiers will take on Sydney FC in a match broadcast on ABC TV from 3pm (WST).
Despite having wrapped up top spot and claiming the first success of Glory’s seven-season W-League history, this match is far from a dead rubber with another milestone on the horizon.
Glory’s nine wins from 10 matches has earned them a 27-point haul equal to the record number of points in a single campaign achieved by Canberra last season.
A draw or victory against Sydney FC will confirm Glory’s league season as the best since the W-League was formed in 2008.
The match has particular resonance for Glory’s Samantha Kerr, Caitlin Foord and Alanna Kennedy, who will take on the club they helped win the 2012-13 W-League Grand Final.
But this will be no easy task against a Sydney outfit seeking a win to seal a place in the finals. A victory over Glory will also take the sky blues a step closer to wrapping up a home semi-final.
Go You Glory Girls!
