Pearman named in Young Socceroos squad for upcoming Argentina fixtures

Attacking midfielder Jaylan Pearman has been named in a 23-man Young Socceroos squad which will take on Argentina in two friendly fixtures during next month’s FIFA Men’s International Window.

The games, which are set to take place in Buenos Aires on Friday 6 June and Monday 9 June (local), will will form a key part of Australia’s preparations for this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup in neighbouring Chile.

Subway Young Socceroos’ Head Coach Trevor Morgan is excited by what lies ahead for his young charges who will be brimming with confidence following their triumph at the U20 Asian Cup earlier this year.

“It’s a great opportunity to take on one of the best teams in the age group in similar conditions to what we can expect at the World Cup in Chile – matching what was done prior to the U20 Asian Cup by playing against Japan,” he said.

“Our Asian Cup campaign established high standards for the team.

“We want to continue to improve and the focus is now on taking our performance to the next level.

“I’m sure everyone is looking forward to getting into camp and preparing for these matches, that could be our last chance to road test things before we assemble in Santiago in September.”

19-year-old Pearman’s departure from Glory was confirmed earlier this week.

The PGFC Academy product made 12 A-League appearances and scored four goals during what was a breakout season in 2024/25.
