Open training session treat

Perth Glory Football Club opened its doors to over 200 students for an open training session as part of the club’s Glory in the Community programs sponsored by Chicken Treat.

Perth Glory Football Club opened its doors to over 200 students for an open training session as part of the club-s Glory in the Community programs sponsored by Chicken Treat.

The soccer excellence schools included Safety Bay SHS, Lynwood SHS, Woodvale SHS, Clarkson SHS, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School and Newton Moore SHS.

Students were able to watch the exclusive training session run by Perth Glory head coach Ian Ferguson and gain insight into the professional environment of a Hyundai A-league squad.

After the session, students were able to quiz their football heroes on what it takes to be a professional footballer and were given the opportunity to get posters signed by their favourite players. Each person also received a show bag full of Perth Glory and Chicken Treat giveaways.

Teachers and coaches from the schools were treated to a private Q and A with Ian Ferguson, Robbie Fowler, Jacob Burns, Mile Sterjovski and Andy Todd. The ‘Coaching the coaches- exercise was invaluable to the teachers who all run soccer specialist programs at their respective schools.

Open training sessions will be a regular fixture in the Perth Glory community calendar. For more information on the sessions and how you can get your school involved, please contact callum.salmon@perthglory.com.au
