Olympic challenge next up for Academy First Team

The PGFC Academy First Team will be seeking to keep the pressure on league leaders Bayswater City when they take on Olympic Kingsway at Kingsway Reserve on Saturday (kick-off at 3pm).

City’s superior goal-difference is all that separates them from the Glory youngsters who showed great character to secure a come-from-behind win over fellow-high-fliers Perth RedStar last weekend.

Joel Anasmo continued his fine form in front of goal by grabbing the equaliser at RedStar Arena, before the similarly-impressive Jayden Gorman fired home what proved to be the winner in the final minute of normal time.

Trying to prevent John Walmsley’s side from securing a third consecutive victory will be an Olympic Kingsway outfit which has also won its last two games, downing Perth SC and Sorrento FC and keeping two clean sheets in the process.

And there are likely to be a number of familiar faces lining up for the hosts, notably former PGFC Academy quartet Liam Murray, Joe Hobson, Daniel Walsh and Oli Annis.

Ahead of the First Team game, Glory’s Under-18s will be seeking to make it eight wins from eight games when they get the day’s football underway at 11am and the Under-20s could move to the top of the table if they secure three points from their fixture which kicks off at 1pm.

Do head along and support the lads if you can!
