NPL Preview: Academy First Team set sights on Perth SC

Old foes Perth SC are next on the agenda for the PGFC Academy First Team as they look to build upon Saturday’s spectacular 6-3 victory over Bayswater City.

Matthew George claimed a hat-trick in one of the games of the season so far at Lark Hill and given that Glory’s 14 NPL fixtures this season have yielded an aggregate of 70 goals, there appears to be every chance of more fireworks again this weekend (kick-off at Lark Hill is at 3pm and admission is FREE).

In terms of team news, Head Coach John Walmsley may be able to welcome Daniel Bennie, Giovanni De Abreu, Andriano Lebib and Corey Sutherland back into his squad after the quartet’s involvement with the Joeys at the U-17 AFC Asian Cup came to an end earlier this week.

The Azzurri, meanwhile, will head south looking to find some consistency having won three and lost three of their last six games.

Among their standout performers has been dynamic forward Sam Cook who has claimed eight goals thus far this term, one of which came when the two sides met at Dorrien Gardens back in April.

Ahead of the First Team game, there is a huge Under-20s clash to look forward to at 1pm as the current top two in the competition go head-to-head.

Only goal difference separates Glory and Perth SC and the outcome of Saturday’s game looks certain to have a major bearing upon the outcome of this year’s title race.

The Under-18s, meanwhile, will get the day underway at 11am looking to extend their four-point lead at the top of the table.

Admission is FREE, so do get along to support the youngsters if you can.
